GMCE’S CULTURAL EXCHANGE TRAVEL PROGRAM
Since more than three decades, the success of Ecole de Danse et
d’Echange Culturel (EDEC) has helped to establish a strong collaboration with many artistic institutions throughout the world. From
Africa to Europe, Asia and America. This ongoing international collaboration with GMCE continues to flourish today.
Ms. Rose Marie Guiraud created the institution Foundation Guiraud MR/EDEC, FGMR/EDEC, and constructed a real artistic creative
center and home for the artists of the world in order to receive students, arts lovers and supporters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. By
doing so, she created a permanent market of African performing arts in Cote d’Ivoire West Africa which is entitled FGMR/EDEC.
EDEC has the capacity to receive more then 500 students and is the main collaborator of GMCE in West Africa. Because EDEC is
designed especially to receive students and develop programs of cultural exchange on a professional level with students who are
rewarded with diplomas at the end of their studies of African dance and choreography and technique, these techniques are
recognized worldwide and help EDEC’s students acquire employment in the performing arts business. Our goal is also to promote
FGMR/EDEC, which is the one of main bases of cultural exchange in West Africa.
EDEC is presently in preparation of its bi-annual festival FEDCA, to be held in 2006. This festival at EDEC is a popular event that lasts
during 12 days. However GMCE is inviting students, professors, and directors of artistic institutions to come to Africa and share the
pleasure of the arts. The whole continent is open to you who would like to explore, experiment, and help exchange culturally and
technically.
GMCE’s is also pursuing the same goal as EDEC to promote and develop its arts education program throughout the USA and
particularly in New York. GMCE’s cultural exchange program, mission is to encourage student’s efforts and motivation and also to
increase their knowledge and chances of employment.
This is the main reason for these voyages that will begin from July 2007.
Note, that this project addresses student artists and collaborators of GMCE in the implementation of its artistic and educational
program. As you know our goal is to promote, develop and exchange culturally internationally and help increase our student’s
artistic skills in African performing arts. Because we believe that there cannot be exchange and development without embracing
each other’s cultures.
increase their capacity of creativity in performing arts.

GMCE does not fund students. GMCE’s task is to educate and train students in African traditional performing arts and coordinate
communication between institutions and our students and collaborators from different countries, in order to help them to
experience the reality of what we are teaching them here in the USA and share it with Africans in Africa. This process can serve to
increase their capacity of creativity in performing arts.
In exchange African artists/students of those institutions can also come to the USA, if qualified, to learn artistic technology and

In these three cases you must still obtain a grant to cover all expenses. GMCE will arrange for Artists in Residence to not pay class
fees. They will have the choice of living with a family where they could share daily meals, or pay your own hotel room and board. We
will also help Artists in residence to obtain entrance to neighboring countries depending on the type of visa that the countries
immigration requires for these trips.
Your program will essentially be based on teaching and study and guided tours. You will receive the program of the institution you
are invited to, before leaving your country of origin.
All fees for classes, room and board will be paid in advance.
GMCE will arrange reduced fare transport as a not for profit corporation for groups of a minimum of 10 persons. You must indicate if
you are going as group or individually.
