LES GUIRIVOIRES DANCE THEATRE COMPANY
Les Guirivoires Dance Theatre Company ,LGDTC,
is the New York based professional performance organ of GMCE whose mission
is to provide inter-cultural performances which include: African traditional and
contemporary dance, modern and jazz dance, music concerts and theater.
LGDTC is also a multi-functional unit of teaching artists. Some of these functions
are: Teaching in a variety of formal and informal educational settings such as
elementary schools, performing arts schools, high schools, universities and
community centers. LGDTC performs in the USA and especially in the New York
The LGDTC has performed with Ms Guiraud since 1999 and has enjoyed
successful runs of Ms Guiraud’s original dance-theater-drama, The Vengeance
of Mami Wata. Mami Wata has been presented at the Dag Hammerskjold
Auditorium of the United Nations, Theater for the New City on off Broadway
during about a year, the Riverside Church of New York and the Buffalo/Niagara
Falls school districts to name a few.
These presentations have included Ms Guiraud’s and music director Emmett
McDonald's own performances, dancing, singing, story telling and teaching
workshops, conferences, choreographing, song writing, costume design for
other dance companies and work with artistic creative schools such as Mind
Builders Creative Arts Center in the Bronx NY , The New School University,
Columbia University, Dickinson college in Carlisle Pennsylvania.
LGDTC is comprised of 12 permanent members of dancers actors and musicians
which for larger productions such as The Vengeance of Mami Wata was
expanded to include a 32 member cast.
LGDTC is available for a variety of bookings.
LGDTC will be performing for the GMCE annual fundraising event TBA and is
preparing the premier of a new dance theater drama written by Rose Maire
